Sebastian woman arrested for assault after throwing potatoes

SEBASTIAN — A Sebastian woman has been arrested for attempting to stab her fiancée after throwing hot mashed potatoes and gravy at him, according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities responded to the 1200 block of Indian River Drive Sunday around 8 p.m., according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Kimberly Francisco, 42, of Sebastian, and her fiancée were involved in a verbal altercation, according to authorities. During the fight, Francisco began throwing hot mashed potatoes and gravy at the man. The altercation escalated when Francisco grabbed a filet knife.

The victim said she lunged at him in an attempt to stab him, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The victim advised that he believed Francisco was going to stab him in the stomach. He was able to disarm her and placed the knife behind a chair where he had been seated.

Francisco said the potatoes had fallen and that she did not throw them, according to authorities. She also denied attempting to stab her fiancée. In the report it was noted that food, including mashed potatoes appeared to be thrown around the kitchen area. The knife was also located behind the chair as the victim described.

Francisco faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and was released on $2,500 bond.
