Sebastian Clambake Lagoon Festival

SEBASTIAN — The Sebastian Clambake Lagoon Festival is coming Nov. 8, 9, & 10. This year’s slogan is “Don’t Worry, Be Clammy,” submitted by Ashley Beck of Sebastian.

Fresh seafood booths, live music, historic reenactments, the Kid’s Zone, sand volleyball tournament, the Press Journal Chowder Cook Off, demonstrations, vendor booths, and more will again be the focus in Sebastian’s Riverview Park from 2-9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10.

Admission is free; however, tickets will be sold for food and tee shirts.

We have scheduled live music throughout the weekend by Wild Life with Jungle Brass, Folk Mountain Reggae, Bobby Coleman and the Coolers, Vintage, The Cheyenne Band, Souled Out, and All About Nothing.

Also performing are the Sebastian River High School Drumline and the Sebastian UMC Bell Choir.

To celebrate Veteran’s Day, our Salute to Veterans on Friday night will feature Diversified, the Charter High School’s show choir.

The Sebastian Clambake, billed as a “Lagoon Festival,” celebrates our special way of life along the Indian River, which has been the life blood of our community from the beginning.

The lagoon provides our people with recreation and tranquil beauty and has fed us for generations.

The festival is known throughout the state for the quality of its food: linguine with red or white clam sauce, peel & eat shrimp, clam chowder, fried fish & clam strips, steamed clams, pizza, hot dogs, and sausage, pepper & onion sandwiches are our featured culinary delights.

We can’t forget the cold draft beer and sodas. We are also serving Mike’s Hard Pink Lemonade, a breast cancer charity drink.

The Sebastian Clambake Foundation, Inc., a nonprofit corporation, organizes the festival, and the proceeds are dedicated to local nonprofit capital projects. Volunteers from our local community comprise the entire labor force.

The Sebastian Clambake Foundation is comprised of these member organizations: Sebastian Soccer Association, GFWC Sebastian River Junior Woman’s Club, Sebastian Elk’s Club, Kashi Ashram, Knights of Columbus, Coastal Florida Public Employees Association, Sebastian River High School Athletic Boosters, Sebastian Property Owners’ Assn., and the Sebastian River High School Rowing Club.

Each member organization has one vote in choosing the beneficiaries.

This year there are five organizations that will benefit from the event, but the primary beneficiaries are the City of Sebastian’s Working Waterfront Museum and Ecumenical Council’s Food Pantry.

Some monies will be granted to HALO Animal Rescue, Sebastian Elks, and Kashi’s Welcome Center.

The foundation has granted more than $420,000 to local charities thus far.

Anjani Cirillo serves as the President of the Sebastian Clambake Foundation.
