VERO BEACH — Jackie Stoelting recently presented Roger Van Dyke, President of the Indian River Golf Foundation, with a check for $390.
The Indian River Golf Foundation was established in 2008 to promote interest and awareness in golf and to encourage participation.
Stoelting, a 2004 graduate of Vero Beach High School, is a member of the Symetra Tour and is 19th on the money list. A top 10 finish on the money list will earn her her LPGA status for the coming season.
Earlier this year, she qualified for the U.S. Open and played well. She made the cut and was 3rd best in driving accuracy for the entire tournament.
“When I qualified for the Open, there were a lot of local people who reached out to me to help with my expenses. When I played well and cashed a nice check, I knew I had to pay it forward. I thought the best way to do that was to give back to the communities that supported me, and this check is what I hope will be the first of more to come,” Stoelting explained.
Stoelting’s contribution represents 10% of what she won in the tournament.
Stoelting is also giving a check in the same amount to Lakeland First Tee. Stoelting went to Florida Southern College in Lakeland and was a member of the 2007 Division II National Championship Team.
“Jackie’s support is a milestone for our organization. She is a prime example of the benefit of supporting youth golf programs,” said Van Dyke.
