VERO BEACH — McKee Botanical Garden will express its appreciation to residents by offering $1 admission in celebration of Community Appreciation Day on Saturday, Oct. 5.
Community Appreciation Day will take place from 10 am to 5 pm. In addition to $1 admission, the first 100 visitors will receive a complimentary copy of The Miracle of McKee written by local author Suzan Phillips.
Phillips is a long-time McKee volunteer and board member whose tireless efforts to help save and restore the garden were instrumental.
“It has been twelve years since the historic reopening of the garden. Community Appreciation Day is our way of thanking residents for their continued generosity and support as we commemorate this occasion,” explained Executive Director Christine Hobart.
In addition, visitors will receive $10 off any new annual membership that is purchased at the event.
Membership benefits include free admission for one year, a 10 percent discount at the Garden Gift Shop and Café, and free or discounted admission to nearly 300 arboreta, gardens, and museums across North America through the American Horticulture Society’s Reciprocal Admission Program.
Elizabeth’s at the Garden Café, which does not open officially for the season until November, will be open during the event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., serving a selection of mini sandwiches and treats.
Community Appreciation Day is sponsored by Natalie’s Orchid Island Juice Company and YP Advertising Solutions.
