Crash kills two from Vero Beach, sends two others to trauma centers

INIDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Yesterday around noon, two cars collided in in the 5300 block of 66th Ave. The crash killed two, now identified as Doyle, 76, and Narcia McCullers, 73, of Vero Beach, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The McCullers were in a 2013 Kia traveling south on 66th Avenue when another vehicle, driven by Magalys Hernandez, of Sebastian, crossed over the double solid line as it headed north in a 2006 Ford Expedition, according to FHP. 

The two vehicles collided, resulting in the deaths of the McCullers and severe injuries to Hernandez and her passenger, Walfredo Lopez.

Hernandez and Lopez were airlifted to area trauma centers and are in serious condition, according to FHP.

All four people were wearing seatbelts.

Henandez and Walfredo were transported to the soccer fields at the fairground by Indian River Fire Rescue, then flown to Lawnwood Medical and Holmes Regional trauma centers.

Total damage to both cars is estimated at $14,000. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Charges are pending the outcome of the continuing investigation.
