Treasure Coast Guardians for New Futures Child Summit

TREASURE COAST — Guardians For New Futures is proud to announce that on Sept. 26 and 27 they will lead the 2nd Annual Treasure Coast Guardians For New Futures Child Summit, an educational experience and training opportunity for professionals who work closely with children and others with interest in issues concerning children in the community.

Law enforcement professionals and child advocates will be discussing topics that include: interviewing children of sexual abuse, typology of sex offenders, drug endangered children, methamphetamine awareness, far reaching effects of untreated drug addictions, and options for treatment.

Featured speakers on Sept. 26 are: Keynote Speaker Andy Benard, Director of Operations, Prescription Drug and Special Projects Section, Office of the Florida Attorney General; Special Agent Terrence (Terry) Thomas, Division of Criminal Investigation, Florida Department of Law Enforcement; Special Agent Al Danna, Coordinator of Crimes Against Children Unit, Florida Department of Law Enforcement; with closing remarks by Mindi Fetterman, Founder, The Inner Truth Project.

Featured speakers on Sept. 27 are: Michelle Akins, State Child Abuse Death Review Committee; Special Agent Dean M. Wolpert, US Dept. of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration; Dr. Jay Kuchera, Coastal Pain Solutions; Dr. Doug Moreland, University of Florida Physicians, Juan Harris, Clinical Director of Boomer & Older Adult Treatment, Hanley Center; with closing remarks from Adam Fetterman, General Counsel for St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office and Former Florida State Representative.

The two day summit will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 4 .p.m at the Treasure Coast Public Safety Training Complex, Indian River State College, 4600 Kirby Loop Rd. in Fort Pierce (off 35th St. near the IRSC Main Campus.)
