School bus struck by limb, student injured Tuesday

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — At the end of the school day Tuesday, an Indian River County School Bus was struck by a large tree limb “destroying” a sliding window injuring a student, according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office.

Bus driver Althea Wimes was driving the school bus when it was struck by the limb in the 1500 block of Old Dixie Highway SW, according to authorities, who released the information on the crash Thursday afternoon. 

The student suffered minor lacerations to his lower right side and was treated by EMS at the scene and released to his parents.
