INDIAN RIVER COUNTY —The 17-year-old boy who has been missing since Sept. 3 has been found safe, according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office.
Austin Scott Furbush was found in Charlotte County, Fla., yesterday, Sept. 11, according to authorities. An investigative lead tipped off detectives that Furbush could be in the Punta Gorda, Fla., area.
The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation by locating the truck Furbush was believed to be driving.
The truck was found in a Wal-Mart parking lot and video surveillance showed Furbush entering another vehicle.
Charlotte County deputies were able to trace the second vehicle to a local residence, which led them to Furbush, who was found at an apartment complex in Punta Gorda. He was taken into custody without incident.
His parents were notified and they have made arrangements to meet with authorities and the teen.
Sept. 4 – INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a 17-year-old that has been missing since Sept. 3.
Detectives with the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office are searching for 17-year-old Austin Scott Furbush. Furbush has run away from his Indian River County home and has health concerns that may require immediate medical attention.
He was last seen on Sept. 3, at 11:30 a.m. wearing ripped blue jeans and a blue Hollister shirt. He is driving his father’s 1993 green Ford F-150 pick-up truck with Florida tag 6816JE. The truck has a lift suspension, large tires, and a camouflage design on the back window. His destination is unknown but he may be attempting to leave the state.
Austin is a white male, 5-11, 150 pounds, brown hair and blue eyes.
