Gifford man arrested with large amount of drugs, intent to sell

GIFFORD — A Gifford man was arrested Wednesday for having a large amount of Ecstasy/Molly, cocaine, and marijuana, with intent to sell, according to the Indian River Sheriff’s Office.

Curtis Lee, 18, was arrested in the 3400 block of 45th Street in Gifford, according to authorities. When authorities closed in on Lee, he jumped from the back of a parked pickup, recovered a bag, and stuffed it between a tree and a privacy fence.

Inside the bag was another bag, according to the Sheriff’s Office, that contained a 10mm Glock handgun, 18 baggies containing different amounts of marijuana totaling 170 grams in weight, and four baggies of a white rock like substance that tested positive for cocaine. The bag also contained eight baggies of several different colored and shaped pills that weighed 10 grams. Those tested positive for the presence of Ecstasy/Molly.

Two scales were also in the bag as well, according to authorities. The drugs along with un-used baggies and scales led the Sheriff’s Office to conclude that the drugs were for sale and not for personal use.

Lee was also served with two warrants for the possession and sale of hydromorphone.

Lee faces charges of trafficking MDMA (Ecstasy/Molly), possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, along with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Lee is being held on $195,000 bond.
