Mueller Campus now accepting applications for nursing program

VERO BEACH — Indian River State College will now offer its Practical Nursing program (LPN) at the Mueller Campus in Vero Beach. Anyone looking to get a start in the healthcare field in Indian River County now has a convenient, close to home choice for their education and will want to consider the LPN program offered at the IRSC Mueller Campus.

The program at the Mueller Campus is part-time and is completed in 20 months. Students are in class and clinical 20 hours each week. The deadline to apply is Oct. 17; the program starts January 2014.

The Practical Nursing program is also available on the Main Campus in Fort Pierce on a full-time schedule, where it can be completed in just one year starting January 2014 and ending in December. The deadline to apply for the program on Main Campus is Sept. 12.

LPNs often work in doctor’s offices, nursing homes, or hospitals. As an LPN, there are broad opportunities to work with many types of people including the handicapped, newborn infants, children, teenagers, adults, or the elderly.

The Practical Nursing program at Indian River State College is a certificate program leading to the opportunity to apply for the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN.)

Students receive an excellent foundation in nursing, including intensive classroom instruction and supervised clinical experiences in local health agencies.
