SEBASTIAN — The Sebastian church known for giving people gas is at it again, with its 8th annual Gas Buy-Down at the Shark Mart Mobil station on Aug. 31.
Beginning at 4 p.m., the price at the pump will be reduced by 50 cents per gallon and will last until 2,000 gallons of fuel are sold. The discount will be limited to 20 gallons per customer in order to provide the discount to as many people as possible.
The Gas Buy-Down and Community Block Party, which will be held the following Saturday, Sept. 7, are two ways the church’s congregation is reaching out to the public, helping to spread God’s love, according to Pastor Seth Goldsmith.
“The mission of Coastal Community Church is to live loved by God and simply to love others with God’s love. These are just two ways that our church has the privilege to express God’s love that is unconditional, with no strings attached,” Goldsmith said.
The Community Block Party will be held at Riverview Park, 600 US 1 in Sebastian, from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sept. 7.
Multiple inflatable bounce houses, a Bungee Run, and carnival games will be on site for families to enjoy. There will be a dunk tank and potential targets, which will include Sebastian City Council members and other community leaders.
A live deejay will keep the fun alive with music favorites and giveaways from local businesses. The community will be treated to slow roasted BBQ pork, hot dogs, pizza samples, cotton candy, funnel cakes, and snow cones.
The entire event is provided at no cost to the public; no charge for the food, the games, or the entertainment.
