Downtown Friday’s Back to School Bash

VERO BEACH — From the 60’s to the 90’s, you’ll hear songs that are certain to make you remember your high school days.

“Remember that one favorite teacher or class and your favorite song? Well, Collins and Company are going to rock this event and will transport you back in time with something for everyone,” said Downtown Friday Entertainment Chair Rick Wykoff.

“In keeping with the Back to School theme, our August featured charity is the Education Foundation of Indian River County. We’re inviting everyone to come on down and tailgate before the big VBHS vs. SRHS game at the Citrus Bowl and wear your school colors from whatever your alma mater was. Or you can come as your school mascot. That would be interesting,” added Tammy Adams, Main Street Executive Director.

The “party on 14th” on Friday, Aug. 30, from 6-9 p.m., will offer unique street merchants, tasty food vendors, interesting performers at the band breaks, drinks to quench your thirst, a chance to win a prize from MSVB, and lots of space to dance like no one’s looking.

Collins & Company is a classic rock band that features music from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s that has spent many years performing together. They are made up of Wesley B. Wright on guitar, Rick Collins on drums, John Marzlak on bass, and Jilliann Collins on keyboards.

Collins & Company will offer attendees an amazing blend of vocal harmonies and exquisite musicianship.

The Education Foundation of Indian River County (EF-IRC) exists to fulfill unmet spending gaps such as: pencils and notebooks to succeed in the classroom; shoes and socks to participate in all school activities; new books to open exciting worlds; scientific competition to inspire curiosity and critical thinking; teacher grants to engage learning; school grants to provide technology; financial opportunities to achieve higher education, and endless possibilities with unlimited benefits for all students.

For over 23 years, our program services have been focused on enriching and enhancing educational opportunities for all students and teachers, both public and private, through effective fundraising and efficient allocation of resources.

The EF-IRC is one of only ten education foundations in the state of Florida to serve both public and private school students.

This unique structure, as an independent 501(c)3, allows the organization to direct funding where it is needed most to build a better community. This ensures educational opportunities for every Pre-K through 12th grade student in Indian River County.
