SafeSpace needs community support to win $10,000

STUART — What’s greater than a nonprofit receiving $2,000 unexpectedly? That same nonprofit winning $10,000 more with the help of its community.

Thanks to Schlitt Insurance Services, Inc., SafeSpace recently received $2,000 from a contest entry to the Safeco Insurance Make More Happen Awards. But now, SafeSpace has the chance to receive an additional $10,000 from the Safeco Make More Happen online contest.

“Safeco’s Make More Happen Awards celebrate volunteerism and our independent agent partners who help make things better for others through their time, resources, and dedication. Safeco Insurance has a rich tradition of civic engagement, and our Make More Happen Awards are just one more way we help build stronger communities by supporting the efforts and causes that are important to our agents,” explained Safeco President Matt Nickerson.

Schlitt Insurance Services, Inc. was selected for the award based on a photo and application demonstrating how volunteers make more happen for SafeSpace.

The photo and application for the Make More Happen Award was submitted by Robert Schlitt Jr., president of Schlitt Insurance Services and past board president of SafeSpace, following his participation in SafeSpace’s annual Walk A Mile In Her Shoes event.

The annual events held in Martin, St. Lucie, and Indian River counties are aimed at raising awareness about domestic violence by asking local men to walk one mile in women’s high-heeled shoes.

The Safeco Make More Happen contest runs through Aug. 19 and ends at 10 a.m. PDT. The nonprofits supported by the top four vote-getters in the online event will each receive $10,000.

Anyone 13 and older can vote once a day at www.Safeco.com/About-Safeco/Community/Make-More-Happen-Vote.

A link to the contest also can be found on the Safeco website at www.Safeco.com and the Safeco Facebook page, which is www.Facebook.com/SafecoInsurance.
