Edward Chapman, 88, Vero Beach

Edward Chapman, 88, died July 29, 2013, at Indian River Medical Center, Vero Beach.

He was born in Waterville, Conn., and lived on the Treasure Coast for 28 years, coming from Kingston, N.Y.

He was a veteran of the Marine Corps, having served during World War II aboard the USS Ranger in the Atlantic and Pacific theaters.

He retired as construction and distribution manager in 1980 after 34 years of service with the New York Telephone Co.

He was a member of the Community Church in Vero Beach.

He was a former member of the Vero Beach Elks Lodge and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8058 in Fort Pierce.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Betty Jo Chapman, of Vero Beach; son, Mark S. Chapman, of Hurley, N.Y.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Gary E. Chapman; and brother, Seymour J. Chapman.

Services and inurnment will take place in Kingston, N.Y., at a later date.
