INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Monday morning, the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of gunfire near the Wabasso Food Store.
When authorities arrived, they found two .380 caliber shell casings and what appeared to be a bullet strike on the building, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
According to witness statements in the affidavit, a group of unknown black males that included Nathaniel “Bubba” Lee, 24, of Indian River County, were chasing the victim.
The victim later encountered Lee, where Lee pulled out a handgun, pointed it directly at him and fired three rounds. The victim told authorities that every round missed him. He was reportedly five to six feet away from Lee when he was shot at, according to authorities.
When the Sheriff’s Office caught up to Lee and arrested him, Lee said, ”You better put (the victim) in protective custody the whole time I’m in there or you will find him floating.”
The victim later picked Lee out of a lineup, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Lee is facing charges of attempted murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is currently being held on $125,000 bond.
