Sebastian man arrested for aggravated assault with plate

SEBASTIAN — A Sebastian man was arrested Saturday for allegedly committing aggravated assault with a plate, according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the affidavit, James Hodges Jr., 36, of Sebastian, was concerned his wife called law enforcement on him, which she had, prompting an officer to arrive on scene.

The officer observed an SUV with the rear driver’s side window smashed and pieces of what was later said to be a plate scattered over the roadway, according to authorities.

According to the Sheriff’s Office the victim said they were at a party where Hodges had been drinking. The victim also stated that Hodges became angry when she tried to get him to come home. During the argument, she got into their vehicle and, before she could drive away, Hodges through a plate toward her from about 35 feet away, striking the window and causing it to shatter.

Hodges faces charges of aggravated assault and resisting arrest without violence, he was held on $500 bond and has since been released.
