FLORIDA — Go Day Trippin’ with Patti Gibbons and Vicky Stein when they continue their cool museum tours on July 25 with a trip to Norton Museum of Art in Palm Beach.
This is more than just a general admission tour. Guests will receive a docent led tour of two special summer exhibits: Amazing Architecture and Art and Paintings and Prints by Lucien Freud.
Guests may also visit other areas of the museum if they wish.
The Norton Museum of Art, which was founded in 1941 by Ralph Hubbard Norton, underwent a significant expansion in 2003 and houses a collection of over 5,000 works of art with a concentration in European, American, and Chinese art, as well as in contemporary art and photography.
“Block by Block: Inventing Amazing Architecture” features 10 landmark skyscapers from around the workd, each masterfully constructed with LEGO toy building bricks by Dan Parker, LEGO Certified Professional.
From four to nine feet tall, these architectural wonders include One World Trade Center in NYC, the Seattle Space Needle, Burj Khalifa in Dubai, and Taipei 101 in Taiwan.
“Architecture in Detail” celebrates the aesthetics and achievements of the man-made environment featuring works by Stuart Davis, Andreas Feininger, John Marin, Addison Mizner, and Vic Muniz.
Following a docent guided tour, the group will dine in the museum’s popular restaurant, Cafe 1451.
Cost for the entire day’s journey is $95 and includes: transportation on a comfortable air-conditioned bus, lunch, guided docent tours of the special exhibits, and to complete your cool museum tour, Patti and Vicky will provide a cold bottle of water.
There will be two bus pickup sites: one in Vero Beach and one in Ft. Pierce (Stuart pickup site will be added if needed.)
