George W. Hengerer, 88, died July 5, 2013, at VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach.
He was born in Buffalo, N.Y., and moved to Vero Beach in 1984.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He retired after a 37-year career with New York Telephone Co.
He was a past commander of American Legion Post 527 in Hamburg, N.Y., and a member of the Vero Beach Elks Lodge 1774, where he was a former house committee chairman.
Survivors include his daughter, Ellen Woolschlager of Pembroke Pines; and sons, Daniel Hengerer of Norfolk, Va., and Philip Hengerer and Raymond Hengerer, both of Vero Beach.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia E. Hengerer on 2003.

No services or viewing are planned.
Burial will be in the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
A celebration of life party for family and friends will be at 5 p.m. July 20 at the Vero Beach Elks Lodge.
