Fred Starke Jr. died July 7, 2013, at his home.
He lived at Horizon Bay in Vero Beach, coming from Lakewood Park and Spanish Lakes, where he lived for 28 years.
He was a Navy veteran, serving during World War II.
He was retired as a firefighter for the city of Miami and a locksmith.
Survivors include his son, Fred Starke III, of Cooper City; daughters, Betty Jo Starke, of Fort Pierce, and Shirley Wood, of Banner Elk, N.C.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Fern; and daughter, Melodie. Services: Will be conducted at a later date.
