Matilda Eckert Matilda Eckert, 98, of Vero Beach, died Thursday, July 4 at Grace Rehabilitation Center, Vero Beach.
Born and raised in Newark, N.J., she lived in Roselle, N.J., for 47 years before retiring to West Palm Beach and spending summers in Forked River, N.J.
In 2003 she spent her years living between Manchester, N.J., and Vero Beach.
She was a member of the Senior Club and the Choir at Immaculate Mary Church, West Palm Beach, the Happy Stitchers of Vero Beach and belonged to the Western Electric Retired Employee Association.
She was a communicant of Holy Cross Church in Vero Beach and St. John’s in Lakehurst, N.J.
She is predeceased by her husband, Joseph, who died in 2005.
Survivors include her sons, Robert Eckert and his companion Zelig Schrager, of Freehold; Donald, of Vero Beach; daughter Marilyn and husband Ernest Mulhall, of Vero Beach and Manchester, N.J.; two grandchildren, Timothy and wife Sharlene and MaryBeth Mulhall; and great grandsons, Michael, Donovan and Brendan.
Visitation is 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, July 10 at Oliverie Funeral Home, 2925 Ridgeway Rd, Manchester N.J., 08759.
Funeral liturgy will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 11 at St. John’s Church, Lakehurst, NJ 08733, with entombment to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Toms River.
