Letter of Resignation

I wanted to let you know that I have decided to resign from the Indian River County School Board effective Friday, July 26, 2013. This has been an extremely difficult decision, but I believe that it is the right decision for my family and the citizens of Indian River County.

When I ran for the School Board in 2010, I expected to continue practicing law with family, and Jennifer and I planned spend the rest of our lives in Vero Beach. Unfortunately, as we all know, life does not always unfold as we hope or expect. The past year and a half has been incredibly difficult. With two jobs, two young children and a one hundred sixty mile daily commute, I have come to the realization that I need to make some changes not only for myself, but for my family. My wife and sons outweigh everything else in life, and I realize that nothing is more important than their happiness and well-being.

I have accepted an incredible position with an organization whose mission is to help children; however, it will require us to relocate. I hope that this upcoming chapter in my life will be as fulfilling as my experience on the School Board has been.

Indian River County will always remain a part of our lives. My wife grew up here and has dedicated herself to the school district. I have been given the opportunity of a lifetime to serve on the School Board and work with Mrs. Johnson, Mrs. Disney-Brombach, Ms. Jimenez, Mr. McCain, Dr. Adams and Ms. D’Agresta. They are extraordinary, intelligent and passionate beyond measure, and I will miss them deeply.

I have worked as hard as possible to contribute to the school district, and I hope that I have succeeded in some small respect. I will always be grateful to the citizens of our county and the School District of Indian River County, and I will continue to work to ensure that all children reach their full potential in the years to come.

Sincerely,

Jeff
