VeroNews.com launches new, better mobile experience

For the last four years, VeroNews.com has been the online news source for Indian River County – a place to go to throughout the day, every day, to get the latest reports of what is happening in Vero Beach, Sebastian, Fellsmere, and everywhere in between.

But something was lacking – a mobile version to match the visually driven full site accessed by thousands of computer users.

With the help of our webhost, TownNews, we now have that visually powerful mobile version for VeroNews.com. And, just like our full site, it is completely free to download and access.

Video pieces and photo galleries can now be accessed with ease. And, of course, mobile readers can scroll through the day’s events posted in the calendar. Our top stories, community news, blogs, and most popular articles are also available.

It’s not an “app” in the sense that you have to download a special program through the Apple Store or the Android Play Store. Instead, think of it as a mobile bookmark that takes you directly to your Indian River County news.

Apple users need only access VeroNews.com on their device – be it the iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad – and click one button when prompted to add the native app to their home screen.

Android users will have to go through a couple extra steps to add the site to their home screens – but we hope you’ll find the effort worth it.

The best part of having the Touch5 native app through TownNews is that users won’t have to keep upgrading their app every time the developers decide to tweak the programming.

And, because we don’t have to send the app through the Apple and Android bureaucracies, you – the reader – can access our site without delay, even when the app needs an upgrade from TownNews.

Let us know what you think about the new mobile site. We are ready, willing and able to tweak our design and offerings as readers suggest. Email your comments and suggestions to comment@veronews.com.
