Italian American Civic Association open for membership

VERO BEACH — The Italian American Civic Association (IACA) was formed in 1958 by seven men of Italian extraction who resided in Vero Beach.

Having no clubhouse of their own, they held their first meeting at Dom’s Tower restaurant where Al Teti presided as the first President. Phillip Avello is one of the original charter members and still living in Vero Beach.

Subsequent meetings were held in various locations in Vero Beach for a period of 13 years until they were able to erect a building where they could have their meetings and run their social affairs.

An addition to the building was erected in 1973 due to membership growth.

The present membership is very grateful to all who have supported our efforts. Through membership, public support, and attendance at our weekly dinner and dances, bi-weekly Sunday dinners, and Wednesday pizza or pasta dinners, we have been able to bestow monies to students for college and to individuals in need.

It is our wish that more members and guests attend these affairs and support our special functions in order to further support our community.

The club is open for membership to everyone.

Also, we are now co-ed. Please consider becoming a member to join us in our fine work.

Meetings are held every Monday at 7 p.m. Our banquet hall is available for rental for private parties.

The Wednesday and Friday dinners are at 6 p.m. Reservations are required for Friday dinners from 3 p.m. to close of business on Thursday.
