VERO BEACH — PlanetVero Radio will expand programming to weekday broadcasts from 3-7 p.m. commencing July 1. What started as a place where local personalities could talk about local issues and events has doubled in length due to popularity.
“We are thrilled with the reception to our shows and the interest in our hosts,” beamed Donna Roberts-Mitchell, co-owner of Idea Garden Advertising, parent company to PlanetVero Radio.
She, along with Wayne and Sally Dillon, started Idea Garden in January 2000. This team has a long history in radio broadcasting, including the Dillons’ ownership of several local stations.
With that experience as the impetus, the team started PlanetVero Radio in April 2011.
“Our line-up is varied and covers everything from wine appreciation and restaurant reviews to community events. The attraction has been local people talking about issues important to the local community,” Sally Dillon said.
PlanetVero Radio is heard on WAXE 1370AM and 107.9FM. The station features Rhett Palmer and Vero’s Voice in the morning and Rush Limbaugh middays with PlanetVero rounding out the afternoon drive.
“What great company to keep,” Mitchell added.
The first addition to the new block of time is the well-known “Sideline Radio Show,” which will air every Monday through Friday from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 5-6 p.m.
The show’s focus is local sports.
“Every school, every sport is followed,” Mitchell explained. The full line-up includes:

Due to the expansion, PlanetVero Radio has limited openings for new talk show hosts.
“It is the first time there has been availability in nearly a year, so parties interested in hosting a program should contact Idea Garden right away,” advised Donna Roberts.
Each talk show features an exclusive topic and is produced in the Idea Garden Broadcast Studios, located on 16th Pl., just west of US1 in Vero Beach.
