Roy “Ted” Tyson, 65, died June 15, 2013, in Vero Beach.
He was born in Tuskegee, Ala., and lived in Vero Beach since 1987, coming from Smyrna, Ga.
He was a surveyor, boilermaker, umpire/coach and riveter for Grumann Aircraft.
He also worked in the hospitality field.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Peggy Jean Tyson, of Vero Beach; sons, Joseph Curtis Tyson, of Vero Beach and Timothy Ted Tyson, of Alabama and Jeffrey John Murphy; daughters, Tina Kay Tyson, of Melbourne and Rebecca Jean Patterson, of Vero Beach; brothers, Pepper Tyson, of Georgia, Robert Tyson, of Mississippi, and Horace Tyson, Donald Tyson, Mickey Tyson and David Tyson, all of Alabama; sister, Lavinia Davis, of Georgia; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Carl Tyson, Thomas Tyson and Ronald Tyson; and sister, Angel.
A life celebration service will be at 1 p.m. June 22 at the Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach, with the Rev. Buddy Tipton officiating.
