William “Bill” Roberts III, 69, Vero Beach

William “Bill” Roberts III, 69, died June 13, 2013, at VNA Hospice House.

He was born in Cohoes, N.Y., and lived in Vero Beach for three years.

He served at the Naval Air Facility, Andrews Air Force Base in Washington, D.C., as an E-5 electrician during the Vietnam era and was honorably discharged in 1967.

Before retirement in 2006, he worked in the facilities maintenance department of SouthTrust/Wachovia Bank (Wells Fargo) in 2006.

He was a 20-year member of the F.B. Peck Hose Volunteer Fire Co. in Waterford, N.Y., where he served terms as assistant fire chief and fire chief.

He was a parishioner of St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, Vero Beach, and a 4th degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Judith Trembley Roberts, of Vero Beach; daughters, Darlene Hachmeister, of Melbourne and Deborah Goss, of Port St. Lucie; son, David Roberts, of Latham, N.Y.; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brother, David Roberts; and a grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be made to VNA and Hospice Foundation, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960.

A memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. June 18 at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church.

Inurnment will be in South Florida National Cemetery at a later date.
