Day trippin’ to the Elliott Museum in Stuart

STUART — Patti Gibbons and Vicky Stein met while working at Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute in 2009. Although they are both now semi-retired, they have joined forces under the auspices of Treasure Coast Travel Agency to lead day trips to various places in Florida.

The first adventure will be a cool museum trilogy starting on Wednesday, June 19, to the new Elliott Museum in Stuart. da Vinci at the Elliott features 40 machines designed and made by a team of scientists and craftsmen in collaboration with the Leonardo da Vinci Museum in Florence, Italy, and his drawings.

The group will dine in the Museum’s Outrigger Cafe and spend the afternoon looking at the new “Wheels of Change” exhibit which showcases the Ellliott’s famous and extensive antique car collection.

Cost is $65 per person and includes museum admission, docent guided tour, and comfortable bus transportation (47 passenger bus with two pickup sites.)

Lunch will be offered at 11:30 a.m. in the Outrigger Cafe but is not included in trip cost. It offers an excellent selection of foods, wines, beers, and desserts (the best key lime pie ever.)

For more information or to make a reservation, please call either Vicky at (772) 567-8372 or Patti at (772) 216-1798. Presently, they are only accepting checks or cash.

If sending payment now, please make check out to Treasure Coast Travel Agency, Inc., and mail to 2046 Treasure Plaza, Ste. B, Vero Beach, FL 32960.

Cool Museum Trilogy continues on July 25 with a docent guided tour and lunch at the popular Norton Museum of Art in Palm Beach.

A tour to the South Florida Science Museum and Planetarium on Aug. 14 will conclude the trilogy.

Please join us on the inaugural trip to the new and beautiful Elliott Museum in Stuart on Wednesday, June 19. There will be two bus pickup sites: Vero Beach in the Indian River Mall Macy’s south lot, and in Ft. Pierce at Indrio Rd. and Kings Hwy. shopping center’s north parking lot.

A goodie bag in honor of this inaugural trip will be offered to all.
