“Big Band Blues Buffet” at Emerson Center June 8

VERO BEACH — Musicians from three jazz organizations combine on Saturday, June 8, at 2 p.m. for “Big Band Blues Buffet,” big band and blues arrangements with tasty side dishes of swing and ballads.

Members of the Glenn Miller Orchestra from Lake Mary, along with players from the Orlando Jazz Orchestra and the Space Coast Jazz Orchestra, will perform at the Emerson Center, which is located at 1590 27th Ave. in Vero Beach.

Led by Greg Parnell, former road manager and drummer for the Glenn Miller Orchestra, this program will feature favorites from Basie, Dorsey, Ellington, Miller, and more.

Central Florida jazz vocalist Amy Parnell joins the orchestra to serenade in a concert that promises to keep the audience clapping, snapping, and tapping all afternoon long.

$20 advance tickets are available through the orchestra website at www.SpaceCoastSymphony.org or at several convenient ticket outlets, including Marine Bank & Trust (beachside and mainland branches) and Madison Avenue Consignments.

Tickets at the door are $25. Students 18 years of age and under are admitted free.

Discounted tickets are provided through the SCSO Symphony for Everyone program. See details at www.SpaceCoastSymphony.org or call toll free to (855) 252-7276 for more information.

Artistic Director Aaron T. Collins knows toe-tapping jazz is a perfect way to launch into summer.

“These are all big time jazz musicians. We couldn’t be prouder to put together a group of this caliber to perform for the people of Indian River County,” said Collins.
