Samuel T. Bassett, 94, died May 19, 2013, at VNA Hospice House.
He was born in Boone County, Ky., and lived in Vero Beach for 36 years, coming from Franklin, Ohio.
He retired from General Motors after 30 years as a patternmaker.
He served as a corporal in the Army Air Forces during World War II in the Pacific Theater.
Survivors include his daughter, Patricia Anne Folck, of Dayton, Ohio; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded by his wife, Nathalie; and companion, Helen Forsyth.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice Foundation, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. May 30 at Crestlawn Cemetery, Vero Beach.
