TREASURE COAST — John O. Ekufu, Director of Tropicana’s Fort Pierce facility, has joined the board of Treasure Coast Food Bank. Tropicana has been an annual corporate partner of Treasure Coast Food Bank.
Ekufu joined Tropicana in 2001 as director of Technical Services and Citrus Operations in Bradenton before moving to the Treasure Coast in 2008 to lead the Fort Pierce facility.
Under his leadership, Tropicana employees regularly volunteer with Treasure Coast Food Bank, helping to sort food in the warehouse and raising money to feed families in need. They have raised money through a bowling league and an annual softball tournament which provided nearly 10,000 meals.
The employees were named Outstanding Volunteer Group of the Year at Treasure Coast Food Bank’s recent volunteer recognition luncheon.
“John and the entire Tropicana family have been a tremendous blessing to us, showing a true sense of dedication to our mission to stop hunger. I look forward to John bringing that same dedication to our board,” said Treasure Coast Food Bank CEO Judith Cruz.
Ekufu holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Prairie View A&M University in Texas, and previously worked for Miller Brewing Company and Johnson & Johnson.
He and wife Eunice live in Palm City with their four children. In addition to Treasure Coast Food Bank, they are active with Volunteers in Medicine, the Red Cross, and the United Way.
