3 rescued after boat capsizes off Sebastian Inlet’s ‘Monster Hole’

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Two of three boaters were pulled from the water off Sebastian Inlet Saturday morning after their boat capsized in the area known as “Monster Hole,” according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office. The third boater swam to shore.

The boat capsized at 8:37 a.m., tossing the boaters into the water. They were treated on scene by EMS and suffered from exhaustion. No other injuries were reported and the boaters were not identified.

Indian River County Sheriff’s Deputy Ron Adamson, of the Special Operations and Marine Unit, was patrolling the Indian River when the call came in about the capsized boat. According to the Sheriff’s Office, Dep. Adamson was able to reach the boaters in 20 minutes and pulled the two boaters from the water.

The Indian River County Fire Department Marine Unit, U.S. Coast Guard and the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office assisted.
