VERO BEACH — According to http://www.cicadamania.com we in Florida are not going to see the swarm of 17-year locust.
But, apparently we have a few stragglers that have made their home in Vero Beach.
I remember my parents telling my stories of the 17-year invasion of the bug, and how my 40-something-year old sister still is afraid of them.
Being a typical guy in some respects, I was excited to see the emerged insect next to its nymph skin.
When I was in the Midwest, I remember seeing these everywhere on the trees during the last invasion. But, until now, I’ve never seen one fresh out of its skin that was left behind.
Grossed out, or in awe, the little creatures are sure to get a reaction from all who see them.
