Motorcyclist, 69, killed in overnight crash in Sebastian

SEBASTIAN — The Sebastian Police Department is investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred in the early morning hours of Monday.

The motorcyclist has been identified as 69-year-old William E. Wells, of Sebastian.

According to the police department, Wells was northbound in the 1300 block of Louisiana Avenue when he failed to negotiate the right curve in the road. Instead, Wells crossed the southbound lane of travel and left the roadway, striking a utility pole.

He was wearing a helmet, according to police, and was known to ride in the early morning hours.

Police suspect the crash may have been medically-related, though the investigation remains on-going.
