Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Raleigh Ives, 96, Vero Beach

Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Raleigh Ives, 96, died May 8, 2013, at Indian River Medical Center, Vero Beach.

She was born in Cincinnati and lived in Vero Beach for 35 years, moving here from Scarsdale, N.Y.

She worked at a physicians’ telephone answering service.

She then attained an R.N. degree and worked at Indian River Memorial Hospital, following her move to Vero Beach.

She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Vero Beach, and served as a Eucharistic minister there.

Survivors include her daughter, Helen Raleigh, of Suffern, N.Y.; son, Ladd Raleigh, of Scarsdale, N.Y.; 15 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, James J. Raleigh Jr.; sons, Captain James J. Raleigh III and Brian Raleigh; daughter, Beth Raleigh; and her second husband of 11 years, Frank Ives.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice Foundation, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. May 12 at Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. May 13 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach.

Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Fort Pierce.
