VERO BEACH — Members of Childcare Resources of Indian River’s Board of Directors and friends of the organization met for their annual meeting and celebration at the Quail Valley Boathouse to elect 2013-2014 officers, renew board terms, commemorate the efforts of volunteers and supporters of the organization, highlight accomplishments, and announce the newly developed Endowment Fund with Indian River Community Foundation.
The following new members were welcomed to the Board of Directors: Kathryn Block Faires, Esquire of Grall Law Group, and Nancy Hopwood of Vero Beach, a former teacher.
Carolyn Veeneman, former Executive Director of Alzheimer & Parkinson Association of Indian River County, was elected President of the organization. Also on the 2013-2014 slate of officers is: Stanley Doggett, Immediate Past President; Andy Williams, CPA of Colton & Williams, Treasurer; and Trudie Rainone, Officer at Large.
Retiring board members Erin Grall and Barbara Neubarth were acknowledged and received gifts in appreciation for their time and service on the board.
Accomplishments being celebrated for the year included: the Education Center has completed the process for accreditation through the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC,) 105 children received quality childcare this year; over 150 local Early Childhood Educators participated in the Excellence in Early Education Professional Development Seminar; and the success of the Second Annual Starfest! Benefit Luncheon.
The organization also announced their partnership with Indian River Community Foundation to establish an Endowment Fund. Childcare Resources of Indian River is the first nonprofit organization in Indian River County to establish an Endowment Fund with Indian River Community Foundation.
The Endowment Fund was made possible by a generous gift from long time friends of the organization, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Kelsey, and a leadership gift from Mr. and Mrs. Jack Veeneman. Kerry Bartlett, Executive Director of Indian River Community Foundation, applauded the commitment of the board and donors to the long term sustainability of the organization.
“An endowment fund is a critical component of a comprehensive fund development program. It assures donors, clients, and the community that the board is focused on the future and will have the resources to address needs and issues as they arise.
Childcare Resources implemented an effective due diligence process when considering this strategic initiative. The Community Foundation is honored to have been selected as its endowment fund partner,” explained Bartlett.
