CAMERA: Don’t clear your card, save the memories

Recently I filled my first SD card from a camera that I bought solely for personal use. Granted, that didn’t stop me from using it in a pinch for VeroNews.com when I needed it.

I’m of the mindset that now that memory cards are so cheap – just picked up a 16 gig SD card for $11 – why should we clear and reuse? I remember when 4 rolls of film was $12.

Granted, I still backup my photos on a hard drive, but I’d rather be doubly safe when it comes to memories over almost a year’s time.

Oddly enough I would have never thought to do this but I picked the idea up from my globetrotting grandma. She had a zippy bag filled with cards marked from all over the world.

Not that I’ve been traveling lately, but I have been recording the biggest adventure of my life so far… being a parent.

Will the trend last? I don’t know, time will tell. But for now, I’ve labeled my first card with a slip of paper and plan to stow it away in a nice safe place.
