INDIAN RIVER COUNTY – Starting Wednesday, drivers on Interstate 95 will find a new traffic pattern at the State Road 60 interchange as part of the ongoing I-95 expansion in the Treasure Coast.
The schedule for the traffic shifts are as follows, weather permitting:
May 8 at 5 a.m. – all northbound I-95 lanes at the I-95/SR60 overpass will be shifted west onto the two-lane newly constructed bridge until early 2014.
May 14 at 5 a.m. – all southbound I-95 lanes at the I-95/Kings Highway and I-95/Orange Avenue overpasses will be shifted east onto the two-lane newly constructed bridge until spring 2014.
May 15 at 5 a.m. – all northbound I-95 lanes at the I-95/Kings Highway and I-95/Orange Avenue overpasses will be shifted west onto the two-lane newly constructed bridge until spring 2014.
These traffic pattern shifts open work zones for construction crews to complete the new I-95 bridges at the I-95/SR 60, I-95/Kings Highway, I-95/4th Street and I-95/90th Avenue overpasses.
Work on this construction corridor includes adding lanes on I-95 in each direction; removing old asphalt and resurfacing the existing lanes; bridge widening; bridge replacement; interchange ramp reconstruction; sound wall installation along residential areas; and landscaping, traffic signals and highway lighting improvements.
