VERO BEACH — Due to the inclement weather expected for this weekend, the American Cancer Society’s Beaches Relay for Life has been rescheduled for Friday, May 10.
“The safety of our committee and the participants is our main concern,” states Committee Chair, Andrea Smith. The event will now take place on May 10th, at Riverside Park, with opening ceremonies beginning at 6:00 p.m.
This year’s Beaches Relay for Life theme, “Making a Cure a Reality,” will help the American Cancer Society save lives and create a world with less cancer and more birthdays.
“Relay brings together friends, families, business, hospitals, school, faith-based groups…people from all walks of life – all aimed at furthering the American Cancer Society’s efforts to save lives by helping people stay well, by helping them get well, by finding cures, and by fighting back,” said Andrea Smith, Beaches Relay for Life volunteer event chair.
Relay for Life is one of the American Cancer Society’s biggest fundraiser. It is much more than a walk, it is a time to celebrate those who have battled cancer, remember those lost, and get inspired to fight back. By participating, you have the power to continue the American Cancer Society’s progress toward a future where cancer doesn’t take the lives of our friends and family.
Funds raised at the Beaches Relay for Life will enable the American Cancer Society to support local services and resources for cancer patients and their families. Funds also support critical cancer research and community education programs designed to teach people how to reduce their risk of developing cancer.
