Time to clean out old meds with Operation Medicine Cabinet this Saturday

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — On Saturday, April, 27, the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office will be partnering with the Drug Enforcement Administration for the drug take-back program, Operation Medicine Cabinet.

The public is encouraged to bring their expired, unused, or unwanted prescription medications to one of the following convenient locations between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.:

  • Walgreens at 13613 Roseland Road (on the corner of U.S. 1).
  • Walgreens at 915 South U.S. 1 (on the corner of Oslo Road)
  • Walgreens at 9595 U.S. 1 (on the corner of C.R. 510)
  • Perkins Pharmacy at 4015 20th Street (just south of 43rd Avenue on S.R.60)

While they last, $5 gift cards will be distributed to those dropping off medication to discard.

This nationwide pharmaceutical take back program is designed to help keep medication out of the hands of those to which it was not prescribed and to avoid it from being flushed or put in a drain where it could negatively affect the environment.
