Frank Cassaniti, 91, Vero Beach

Frank Cassaniti, 91, died April 18, 2013, at Indian River Medical Center, Vero Beach.

He was born in Pleasantville, N.Y., and lived in Vero Beach for 18 years, coming from Lloyd Harbor, N.Y., and Quechee, Vt.

He served during World War II with the Air Transport Command, flying missions between India and China as part of the “Hump” Campaign.

He worked for Pan American World Airways for 35 years as director of flight engineers where he flew with presidents John Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford.

He was a member of the Clipper Pioneers organization for former Pan Am cockpit crew.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Marit Eva Cassaniti, of Vero Beach and Norway; daughter, Lynn Cassaniti, of New York City; and sons, Donald, of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and Steven, of Marietta, Ga.

A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. April 23 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Vero Beach.

Interment will be in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla, N.Y., at a later date.

Arrangements are by Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory in Vero Beach.
