Douglas M. Tharp, 64, of Vero Beach, died April 17, 2013, at Indian River Medical Center, Vero Beach.
He was born in Urbana, Ill., and lived in Vero Beach since 2001.
He was a graduate of the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colo.
He spent his career as a special-education teacher for 28 years in Guam and the U.S.
He also raised and showed Fancy Pidgins, known as Z Best Roller Lofts.
Survivors include his wife, Nataly Tharp, of Vero Beach; mother, Elizabeth Tharp, of Jacksonville; sister, Carol Brooks, of Colorado; and brother, Greg Tharp, of Jacksonville Beach.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. April 27 at Living Waters Ministries, Vero Beach.
