GIFFORD — The Indian River County SWAT and crisis negotiation teams are on scene after a female who fired a gun barricaded herself in her apartment at the 4700 block of Kennedy Court in the Victory Park community of Gifford.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, two females were involved in a verbal altercation outside the apartment around 9 a.m. Wednesday when one female escalated the incident by firing a single shot.

Authorities are unclear at this time if the female fired at the other person or fired a warning shot. Neither female was injured in the incident.
