Gary E. Thomas, 52, died April 14, 2013, at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach.
He was born in Klamath Falls, Ore., and lived in Vero Beach since 1981, coming from Monticello, Ill.
He was a house painter.
He was of the Christian faith.
He was the former commander of the Sons of the American Legion, and a member of the Moose Lodge and the Eagles.
Survivors include his father, Glenn Thomas, of White Heath, Ill.; mother, Marcia King; and sister, Julie Reed, of Monticello.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Russell Thomas; and grandparents.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. April 18 at Crestlawn Cemetery in Vero Beach.
