VERO BEACH — A great day was had by all at DFL’s 2012 Donor & Volunteer Appreciation event at the off-leash dog park.
County Commissioner Joseph Flescher agreed to be the guest speaker. He applauded DFL on running a top notch dog park, as well as commending the volunteers & donors for their commitment to the cause of training Service Dogs For Soldiers and the Canine Companions for Comfort Programs.
Fred Jones & his dog, Sissy Girl, were presented with the Assistance Dog Team of the Year award.
Jack Saucerman was presented with the Volunteer of the Year award.
Sydney Liebman received the Media award.
Elsebeth Sexton-Stryker received the Individual Philanthropist of the Year award.
Carol Hartwig, with her dog, Baxter, were presented with the Pet Assisted Therapy Team of the Year award.
4-H dog master members Journey Herbert and her dog, Cyan, along with Mylee Smith and her dog, Blue, accompanied by Izzy Hendon, put on a dog agility demonstration for the crowd and did an excellent job.
