JoAnne Kendrick Lord, 83, died April 3, 2013, at the VNA Hospice House, Vero Beach.
She was born in Lake Wales and lived in Vero Beach from 1970 to 1994, before moving to Asheville, N.C.
She recently returned to Vero Beach.
In her youth, she was a competitive diver, performed in water-ski shows at Cypress Gardens, and graduated from Lake Wales High School.
She worked for Southern Bell Telephone in Orlando, Florida Telephone in Leesburg and the Florida Baptist Retirement Center in Vero Beach, where her husband was the manager.
She also worked at the Chamber of Commerce in Vero Beach and for some local businesses.
While living in Asheville, she worked at The Cove Christian Convention Center and Biltmore Baptist Church.
While living in Vero Beach, she was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son, William Lord Jr., of Fort Pierce; daughter, Cynthia Lord, of Asheville, N.C.; sisters, Van Cox, of Fort Worth, Texas, and Betty Manzo, of Jackson, N.J.; brother, Edgar Kendrick, of Carney, Okla.; one grandchild; and one step-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Lord; sister, Margaret Cornelius; and brother, Thomas Kendrick.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice Foundation, 110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960; United Way of Indian River County, 1836 14th Ave, Vero Beach, FL 32960; or the Florida Baptist Retirement Center, 1006 33rd St., Vero Beach, FL 32960.
