Charles E. Flanegan Sr., 83, Vero Beach

Charles E. Flanegan Sr., 83, died April 6, 2013, at his home.

He was born in Uniontown, Pa., and lived in Vero Beach for 20 years, coming from Georgia.

He retired from the Air Force after 20 years of service.

In the last six years of his military career he was a member of the 89th Military Airlift Wing at Andrews Air Force Base, which supported the Presidential Fleet.

Following his time in the Air Force, he owned and operated Flanegan Trucking Co. for 20 years.

He was a member and elder of the Clayton Community Church in Morrow, Ga.

He was a member of USPGA, played in several ProAm golf tournaments and won the National Airlines ProAm.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Pege Lloyd Flanegan; daughter, Pamela McHugh, of Indianapolis; sons, Charles “Chip” Flanegan Jr., of Stockbridge, Ga., and Kirk Flanegan, of Waxhaw, N.C.; sisters, Nancy McManus, of Philadelphia and Carolyn Gray, of Uniontown; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice House, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960.

A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. April 13 at C.J. Cannons Restaurant in Vero Beach.

Arrangements are by Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory in Vero Beach.
