Democratic Women’s Club chooses 3 for college scholarships

VERO BEACH — Three local high school seniors have been selected college scholarship recipients by the Democratic Women’s Club of Indian River County.

Cameron Dawson of Vero Beach High School, Victoria Tippin of Sebastian River High School, and Rachel Koruo of Indian River Charter High School will be presented $1,000 awards.

The students will be honored at the Democratic Women’s Club’s annual scholarship luncheon on April 13 at 11:30 a.m. at Disney Vero Beach Resort.

Guest speaker will be Ann Decker, executive director of the Indian River State College Foundation, who will discuss advances at IRSC and the details surrounding new developments, including the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Center.

Decker, who holds a Master’s in public administration from Nova Southeastern University, spent a career in government service with the U.S. House of Representatives before joining IRSC in January 2007.

The DWC scholarship luncheon is open to the public; however, reservations are required.
