Music lovers dance into the night at Royal Palm Pointe

VERO BEACH — On a nice night with a breeze coming off the lagoon bands filled the air with music to the delight of dancers and audience members in bleachers and lawn chairs.

Several hundred danced and listened to Sha-Boom and The Rip Tides as they danced into the night.

The Kelly family made the trip just for this event from South Carolina.

The Recreation Department’s own Aerial Antics Circus performers also put on a demonstration that included the juniors and the spotlights.

People of all ages danced in front of the stage with music from Sha-Boom and in the fountain area with music by The Rip Tides.

Andrew and Audrey Beattie were just one pair dancing during the night.

Andrew said that they met 58 years ago at a dance.

“And now that we’re old we can still move as long as it’s slow,” said Audrey.

The event planners of the 21st Annual Dancing Under the Stars suggested that people dine at the many restaurants before dancing into the night.

“I think it’s a great thing for the businesses at the Pointe,” said Frank Koch, area supervisor of Mr. Manatee’s Casual Grille and Lobster Shanty. “It’s always a lot of fun.”
