Irene Alice Redstone, 104, died March 24, 2013, at Indian River Estates.
She was born in Olean, N.Y., and her family were early settlers of Vero Beach in 1925.
She returned to Vero Beach in 1992, coming from Miami.
She was a Navy veteran of the WAVES during World War II.
She work for The Miami Herald while attending The University of Miami School of Law, earning her juris doctor and bachelor of law degree.
She practiced law in Miami from 1951 to 1992.
She was the executive director of the Legal Aid Society of Dade County Bar Association.
She was a member of WAVES National, The American Legion, American Association of University Women and the Past President of The National Association of Women Lawyers.
She was also a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Foundation, Daughters of the American Revolution, The Order of the Eastern Star and Queen of the Daughters of the Nile.
Survivors include her sister, Doris McAllister, of Coventry, Ga.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Parker; brothers, Clarence Redstone, Kenneth Redstone, Ross Redstone, Paul Redstone, John Redstone, David Redstone, Ray Redstone and Howard Redstone; and her sister, Ruth Callaghan.
A memorial service was conducted on April 2 at the First United Methodist Church “Prayer Garden,” Vero Beach.
