Five injured in Gifford shooting Sunday night, Sheriff to hold press conference at 11 a.m.

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office will be holding a press conference today at 11 a.m. to discuss the shootings that occurred over Easter weekend.

GIFFORD — At least five people were injured in a shooting near the 3200 block of 45th Street in Gifford at approximately 8:20 p.m. Sunday near the Smith Grocery Store.

Three adults and one teenager were shot and an infant was struck with glass from the shooting, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The identities of the victims and their specific injuries were not immediately released.

The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office did not release any details regarding the circumstances surrounding the shooting. It is not known at this time if law enforcement is searching for any suspects.

The victims have been transported to Indian River Medical Center where they are being treated. At least one is a trauma alert victim, but the extent of injuries are unknown at this time.

Detectives, deputies, and crime scene units are on scene. The Sheriff’s Office expects to provide updates as more information becomes available.

This is the second shooting in Gifford in two days and the third this weekend in the county. The Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting from early Saturday morning in Gifford and another, non-fatal, shooting in Vero Beach.
